Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin.
It was a chance discovery in 1928. He didn’t take his research any further. Florey and Chain picked up his paper and explored the mould Penicillin further.
He was cleaning some old culture dishes and noticed a spore that had grown and killed off other diseases.
