Important in Medicine because…

Francis Crick and James Watson shared the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1962. This was in recognition of their huge advancement of medical understanding of DNA.

 

They two mapped the structure of DNA in 1953. They used the work of earlier DNA experts to help them in their breakthrough.

 

Understanding DNA is essential to knowing what and how we inherit from our biological ancestors.
