Early in his career Ehrlich worked for Robert Koch, in his research institute in Germany. He worked alongside another famous bacteriologist, Behring, and the two worked hard to find a ‘Magic Bullet’ which stopped the spread of infection.
Ehrlich and his team started researching the syphillis germ. They created and tested over 600 chemical compounds until they found Salvarsan 606. The mixture that killed only the syphillis germ.
