Vesalius
Important in Medicine because…
· Born in 1514 and studied Louvain and Paris, he concentrated in anatomy.
· Vesalius was allowed to perform dissections (cutting up bodies to poke around inside.)
· He soon rose to become Professor of Surgery and Anatomy at the prestigious and important University of Padua.
· He did his own dissections, and produced several books with very ACCURATE DIAGRAMS, these were carefully labelled to help doctor’s understanding of them.
