George Arthur Baker attended School from September, 1905, to July, 1910. He was afterwards a student in Borough Road TrainingCollege and entered active service as teacher inRotherham. He entered the Army in the R.A.M.C. and rose to the rank of Sergeant, after which he returned to England to train for a Commission, and was Gazetted in January, 1917.
Lieutenant George Baker was in every respect a fine type of manhood. At School and College he was a keen cricketer and a prominent member of the football team. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre and was made a Chevalier de la Couronne for bravery on the field. The boys and Masters unite in expressing their sympathy with his parents and his widow who are left to mourn his loss.
