This area of the GCSE History is currently being developed – content added soon.
This large piece of timed written work is worth 25% of the GCSE History. The questions change year-to-year so it is important that you check that these pages match the learning you are doing in class to prevent you preparing for the wrong question.
The question is always on an area of German History 1919-1939 and involves a detailed assessment of the current thinking on the topic. There is always three parts, totalling 50 marks, the same amount as each of the exams for Medicine, American West and Surgery.
The first question is always an investigation – assessing the role of an event or individual and tests your ability to use sources and information to support your view.
The second question is always in two parts: firstly a short ten-mark question testing understanding of the effects or importance of an event or person. Secondly the last question requires you to decide “how far..” or “to what extent…” several sources are justified or represent a person or period.
The questions cannot be released until a set date. When they are revealed lessons, materials and the questions, also links to further reading will appear here.
Examples of questions might include the role of Hitler, the impact of Stresemann, the effects of the First World War on Germany, how important propaganda / terror / coercion / persuasion were in Hitler’s control of Germany.
