Gifted at History? Targeted A* / A?

These pages are aimed at the brightest students who are aiming for A* and A grades in History. You need to have a clear and thorough understanding of the key words and exam technique. Also as important is your ability to draw together material you have learned and go beyond it, reshaping your knowledge and challenging conventional interpretations of events and individuals.

Activities

To extend your understanding and challenge your knowledge and grasp of the different elements of the History GCSE you should attempt all of these activities…

Create revision flashcards with condensed information on one side and a picture and colour on the other. These can be for events, individuals, key dates, turning points, periods

Create a revision PowerPoint with 8 slides, including pictures, brief text to cover a theme, turning point or individual to be turned into a video on YouTube. Choose a suitable music clip as well. Possible topics include: Edwin Chadwick, Public Health Acts of 19th C, Pasteur Vs Koch,. Make sure you review these videos for ideas about layout and effective communication of important information.

Revision posters – colourful overviews or mind maps of topics or time periods, individuals or 12 / 16 mark exam questions.
